Sometimes I wonder if I truly am heartless. If I was able to function about my daily life without having a thousand emotional breakdowns does that mean my feelings were not real? Or not as intense as I believed they were? I think about this sometimes. Then nights like these come along. Where my guard comes down. Where I feel exposed. And then it hits me. The truth, the reality that I could avoid while you are away. Because the initial change wasn’t all that different. I was just not allowed to say “I love you.” That’s it. That was the only change. Except it made all the difference.
